CATL Join Hands with the Ministry of Transport Highway Research Institute to Facilitate the Development of Battery Swapping Technology

On April 3, CATL and the Ministry of Transport Highway Research Institute signed a strategic cooperation agreement to engage in extensive collaboration in aspects including R&D of battery swapping technology, preparatory studies of policies, establishment of standard systems and scenario-based applications.

CATL, as a world-leading renewable technology company, has made significant strides in innovating EV batteries, energy storage batteries, and battery swapping services. With multiple studies on new energy vehicles and battery swapping technologies, the Ministry of Transport Highway Research Institute has yielded notable achievements in policy recommendations, standards and regulations, scientific research, demonstrative projects, and technology promotion. 


In accordance with the principles of "complementary advantages, mutual benefit, long-term cooperation, and common development," the two parties will drive forward the development of battery swapping technology through a dual approach of "technological innovation + market promotion". They will jointly work out a nationwide battery swapping infrastructure plan for key road freight routes, enhance the energy supply capabilities along national- and provincial-level highways and in truck stops on expressways, in order to build a green corridor for the battery swapping of electric heavy trucks. This will reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency in transportation logistics, while also supporting the industry's low-carbon transition and high-quality development.
